It has a down-to-earth, rural feel with ample green space available with most properties. At the community’s heart is the Katonah Village Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, which is a great place for those who prefer to walk to grab dinner, visit the bank, or get groceries.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Downtown Katonah sits between Bedford Road to the west and Katonah Avenue to the east, and the two merge together at the southern tip of town. To the north, Edgemont Road connects Bedford and Katonah, creating a long downtown strip that’s easy to traverse.

Along Bedford Road, residents can stop in at the Katonah Village Library or catch a bus at the Katonah Railroad Station. The Music Room at the Caramoor is a great venue for live performances. Memberships are available so that residents can catch each play and concert. Or, the Caramoor Center for the Arts opens its doors seasonally for a robust concert schedule and for the public to stroll the sweeping grounds, set up a picnic, and even stay the night.

For a cup of coffee on a Saturday morning, the Katonah Reading Room provides coffee, baked goods, and a to-go menu that you can enjoy while you browse for the latest bestseller. A wide variety of restaurants and take out are available if you’re feeling hungry.

Things to Do

Katonah provides a great blend of outdoor activities and cultural and historical sites. Follow Jay Street to take in an exhibit at the Katonah Museum of Art. This world class museum offers a constantly changing variety of exhibits. Meanwhile, the Cross River Reservoir is a favorite of local fishermen who set up their rods in hopes of catching bass, trout, and pickerel.

Katonah is home to a thriving artistic community, and each month residents can take part in the Katonah Art Walk, which promotes local artists and businesses. Visit the museum, watch pop-up performances, stroll through the shops, and end with food and live music in the gazebo. Literary buffs will appreciate the Katonah Poetry Series, where a handful of talented poets are selected to present their work. For those who love history, the John Jay Homestead grounds are open from sunrise to sunset.
